The temple installed the fine jade carving “Pageantry at the Jade Pond” on the dragon side of the main nave on the first floor. The work is a reference to the tale of the Golden Mother of the Jade Pond, who invites gods, buddhas and immortals from the three major religions to the Peach Conference each time she celebrates another century of her birth. In order to rescue living beings from their suffering, she sprinkles sweet dew on the mortal world and opens the gates to enlightenment so that the souls from the mortal realm may reach the other shore.
