The legend of Mulian saving her mother is among the tales mentioned in the Buddhist sutra. The story is a reminder to not forget the kindness of one’s parents while in the mortal realm, and to respect and honor one’s ancestors. The Songshan Feng Tian Temple adheres to the idea of compassion, guiding all living things to pray to deceased relatives. Those who would like to “change their luck” or “accumulate karma” can take advantage of this opportunity to pray to increase the protection given by their ancesters and absolve their own sins, and to return the merits of worshipping to their own karmic creditors. All those faithful and benevolent are welcome to register in advance.
