Lord Yue Lao, also known as the Elder Under the Moon, is a Taoist god responsible for love and marriage for men and women. He is usually portrayed as rubicund with a long white beard, holding a book of marriage and red thread in his left hand, and a cane in his right. Lord Yue Lao is worshipped as a constellation between the Aquila (“Cowherd” star) and Lyra, (“Weaver Girl” star). Based on the tale of the Cowherd and Weaver Girl, Lord Yue Lao is regarded as the god of marriage and matchmaking.
